We are fast approaching the half term break, and as you can imagine our staff and students are all feeling ready for a rest. The last three weeks have been tremendously difficult for everyone in school, and I am immensely proud of the way that our entire staff team and our students have coped and pulled together to support each other.
The whole school came together to observe a minute’s silence and shared prayer at 12 noon last Friday to mark Ann’s funeral. The children were, as always, very respectful and dignified, and we felt that this was a fitting way for us to mark the family funeral taking place as a close Christian school community.
As soon as we have further information about a memorial service for Ann we will of course let you know.
Our Y11 students started their exams on 7 May, and these will continue until 18 June. We are particularly proud of the courage and resilience demonstrated in how they have approached this really important time in their school careers, particularly in such difficult circumstances.
We are also immensely proud of our Y7 rugby team, who qualified for and then went on to win the Leeds & Hunslet Schools Final, which was played at Headingley Carnegie Stadium on 15 May. In a nail-biting match our boys beat Morley Academy 32 – 28 in a really competitive game. Well done to the whole team.
So thank you again for your tremendous support and prayers this half term. School will close on Friday 23 May at the earlier time of 1.20pm, apart from for those Year 11 students with an exam that day. School buses will depart at 1.30pm. We re-open on Monday 2 June at 8.45am.
Have a restful and peaceful week,
Mr S Mort
